Merriweather

Merriweather is the university's primary typeface. It is used for body text in print, as well as in letters and reports. You can use the complete font family, but regular, italic, and bold are the most commonly used styles.

Characteristics of Merriweather

  • Its classic, serif design conveys a sense of tradition and reliability.
  • Despite its classic appearance, the typeface is optimised for on-screen reading.
  • Its slightly condensed letterforms and large x-height make it highly legible, even in small sizes.

Vestula

Vestula is the university's secondary typeface. We use it for various applications, such as for headings (except on covers) and in tables. This typeface is available to staff on their workstations; for others, it is available only upon request due to licensing restrictions.

Fallback Fonts

In some cases, it is not possible to use a specific typeface, for example, in an email. In such cases, alternative fonts that are universally available on computers can be used:

  • For Merriweather, the alternative is Georgia.
  • For Vestula, the alternative is Verdana.
